Southern Pacific Railroad

Sadly, the Southern Pacific Railroad no longer exists. It was a favorite subject of Bud's, however, and it's a pleasure to be able to remember the SPRR through his work. In this painting, 15 Minutes from Spofford, he managed to capture not only SPRR, but our beautiful fall colors. Spofford is just a short drive outside of Brackettville and is a town that wouldn't even exist if it hadn't been for the Southern Pacific Railroad.

We're finally listing our paintings on Etsy!

We are slowly adding paintings to our Etsy store site. Come and see us! We hope to have several paintings listed soon.
Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade.

Bud's wife, Nakai, helped him get the Native American ornamentation and touches down correctly on Native American paintings like the one above. Being a Cherokee who has studied her ancestral past and who stays actively involved with the Native American community, she was the perfect consultant for his work.

The Alamo Village Coloring Book

Bud Breen and Happy Shahan created a children's coloring book for Alamo Village back in the 60's. What I find unique about the coloring book is that each of the faces inside the book were of people who worked at Alamo Village, were related to the Shahan family, had some personal tie to the filming of "The Alamo," or to Bud. All images in the book but the cover and the following sketches from the book are extremely simple, as one would expect to see in any coloring book.

Jerry Fairbanks and Bud Breen

This portrait of Bud Breen was done as a gift for Bud by Jerry Fairbanks, one of his many children. Bud and Nakai adopted and/or fostered many children over the years and I believe that Jerry was one of his adopted sons, although I cannot be sure the actual facts of their relationship.
